YAMATO – World’s Largest & Greatest Battleship Ever Built

When I was a kid, my favorite battleship was the Yamato, which served the Imperial Japanese Navy in World War 2.  Many young Americans my age group may know the Yamato from the cartoon, Star Blazers.  Since I was able to visit my Japanese relatives on many occassions as a child, I was able to get the real Yamato, and her sister ship, Musashi, models to bring back to the US.   Most people probably never heard of the later battleship.  These two battleships still remain the world’s biggest and most powerful battleships ever.
