My name is Kevin Miller, Jr. I am an American Expat intending to reside in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The arrival into Almaty in November, 2013, will make this my third visit to Kazakhstan. I first visited Kazakhstan between June, 1997, and July, 1999, where I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Karatau, Kazakhstan. After I left the Peace Corps, I served as the Program Recruiter for ACCELS in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. This allowed me to make three more short trips to Kazakhstan (on my way from Bishkek to Talas via Taraz, Kazakhstan). AmerasianWorld.com is my website that I created after returning to the US from Central Asia in December, 1999.
I will teach Drama, ICT and Multimedia at one of the well known international schools during my two years in Almaty. One of my goals will be to promote open source technology, such as Linux, during my time in Kazakhstan. Expect to see me at the next Barcamp Central Asia event and I may even organize several other technology events as well.
From Saigon to Almaty
I spent over 9 years residing in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where I am currently a temporary resident even meeting several Kazakhs visiting the country. I love Vietnam and call it my second home. You can read more about my life at my blog, SaigonNezumi.com. I plan to keep this blog updated while I live in Vietnam with planned return trips back to Saigon.
I also plan to focus more on Olympic Weightlifting during my stay in Kazakhstan. You can learn more about my experiences with weightlifting at my other blog, ironDevilDog.com.
Around the World to the Land of Tengri
When I land in Almaty in November, 2013, I will have accomplished circling the globe for the first time in my life. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Returning to the “Land of Tengri” fulfills one of my destinies and will start a new chapter of my life. What the future will bring, only destiny will know.
