Saigon Expat Blogger calls Vietnamese Girls -> Whores

My students and I had a discussion about one American English teacher writing condescending remarks about Vietnamese girls in her private blog. Unfortunately for this blogger, her private postings are making it online here in Vietnam. Nothing is private in Vietnam... The reception to her comments have not been good for obvious reasons:

  • "You open!" She pointed at the ceiling fan. The fan switch is by the doorway, where I was standing. I immediately felt condescension toward this girl. This Mekong Delta whore. Sad for the wife that G. might have one day. Sad for this girl whose family cares more for money than the dignity of their daughter.

It looks like this English teacher will be leaving Vietnam very shortly.
